Practical German learning guide
A German vocabulary study plan for busy days
The best plan has a small minimum, a clear stopping point and room for extra study when you have the energy.
Daily: retrieve first
Begin with due reviews, then add new cards until the XP goal. Finish the Hard and Medium repetitions already in the session so difficult words do not disappear simply because the target changed colour.
Twice a week: use the words
Choose five recent words and make one connected message, description or voice note. Production reveals missing grammar and meaning distinctions that recognition can hide.
Weekly: adjust the set
If sessions feel easy, add a topic or a higher level. If they drag, narrow the levels and keep the daily minimum. Consistency is more valuable than a heroic target abandoned after four days.
Monthly: measure recall
Repeat the fixed Vocab Level Check under the same conditions. Because its pool does not move, a higher score is easier to interpret. Then confirm the result in a full game with a larger set before changing your Study levels.
A realistic twenty-minute day
Do twelve minutes of Study, three minutes replaying missed audio, and five minutes in a game or writing with three recent words. Stop when the block ends. A defined finish protects tomorrow's session better than studying until attention collapses.
